27/02/2008: Early Day Motion Tabled for International Women's Day

Chris McCafferty MP has tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) which recognises the importance of International Women's Day on 8th March. It notes that although significant achievements have been made to advance women's equality during the last 100 years, women still face challenges to achieving social, economic and political equality and progress on reaching Millennium Development Goal 5 is slow. The EDM therefore demands greater efforts by the international development community to increase funding and technical expertise to solve this continuing public health emergency.
