Women and Children First facilitated and participated in a consultation event with DFID and experts and advocates to develop its new business plan on reproductive, maternal and newborn health.
The meeting saw over fifty experts and advocates from within government, universities, professional associations and NGOs gather to decide what the UK government should focus on to improve maternal and child health in developing countries. Priority issues were choice and empowerment, access -including for the poorest, young people, marginalised groups and people affected by conflict and humanitarian situations, quality RMNH services, aid instruments and funding approaches and accountability for results.
Watch the Secretary of State for International Development and Women and Children First’s Ros Davies asking DFID to listen to the voices of women, because their views are the most important to improving reproductive, maternal and newborn health here.
