Women and Children First was delighted that Juliet Stevenson made a BBC Radio 4 Appeal to support our work on 28 November 2010.
Juliet spoke about how Women and Children First addresses preventable maternal and newborn deaths by turning simple ideas into positive action in communities where help is needed most.
She described how the women’s groups we help establish make a real change to women’s lives and highlighted the commitment of Sarah Magawa who is a group leader working with Women and Children First's MaiKhanda programme in Malawi.

Sarah Magawa
Sarah Magawa leads nine groups in Kasungu District in Malawi. The groups meet in community buildings such as the village church - a small building with a mud floor and unglazed windows furnished with just a few chairs.
Sarah says: I became a group leader because I was touched by the prospect of saving mothers’ and babies’ lives.
