Working and promoting collaboration in Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Advocacy
Women and Children First is a member of The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health. The goal of the partnership is to support the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5:
Goal 4: to reduce by two-thirds the mortality rate of children under five by 2015
Goal 5: to reduce the maternal mortality ratio by three quarters by 2015
Women and Children First was a member of the organising committee, and volunteered, for the Women Deliver conference on the 18th-20th October 2007. The conference focused on creating political will to save the lives and improve the health of women, mothers and their newborn babies around the world.
Women and Children First is also a member of The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood. The alliance aims to increase public awareness of the need to make pregnancy and childbirth safe for all women and newborns.
Women and Children First actively encourages collaboration with and between other key advocactes by:
- producing biannual advocacy updates
- organising a series of advocacy workshops and conferences
- creating an Advocacy Toolkit
