WCF Programme Resources
WCF works in resource-poor settings and so strives to produce effective educational materials and training. We work in close collaboration with our partners, including senior healthcare providers, to identify needs and develop customised materials to meet these needs. We rigorously evaluate each resource to ensure that it is effective, and obtain government approval for its use before implementation. We have produced materials for both the community and health services:
Women's Group Facilitation Manuals: WCF trains women to be facilitators of women's groups using a customised manual, which can be used again after the initial training.
Picture Card Game: This game uses pictures (drawn by local artists) depicting certain health scenarios to help pregnant mothers learn about appropriate healthcare practices, including when to seek professional care to ensure a safe delivery.
Flip Chart for Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs): WCF recognises that many women only have access to TBAs rather than health professionals. We have therefore produced a pictorial flip chart to help train TBAs in safe motherhood and essential newborn care, which they can then use as a resource in the community.
Training Manuals: WCF has assisted in producing various training manuals in safe motherhood and essential newborn care, for doctors, nurses, midwives and community health workers. We also ensure that our training is sustainable and have developed manuals for training master trainers.
