An estimated four million babies every year die before they are one month old.

Women and Children First (WCF) improves the health and wellbeing of women and children in poor communities, with a particular focus on pregnancy and the first month of life.

We work with local healthcare providers to strengthen skills in essential newborn care by training all levels of staff, plus training the trainers. Read more

It is shocking that every minute in 2008 eight newborn babies and one woman died in childbirth, and this tragedy continues in 2009. Read what Women and Children First is doing to prevent these deaths and improve the health of mothers and their newborns in our 2008 Annual Review and lastest newsletter.
