A runner, Jacky, receives a high ten in support from Women and Children First during his Royal Parks Half run

Be part of Women and Children First’s team at the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London on Sunday 13 October 2024.

The beautiful greenery, great atmosphere and flat, fast course makes it appealing to first time runners and those seeking a personal best.

The Royal Parks Half Marathon is renowned for its fantastic, friendly atmosphere, and stunning scenery, including London landmarks. It takes in Hyde Park, Green Park, St. James's Park and Kensington Gardens.

Those running for Women and Children First will get great support before and during the race.

This includes running tips and training advice from the brilliant Peloton Tread instructor, Jeffrey Mc Eachern, at a special event for our runners.

I absolutely loved it! Thanks so much Women and Children First for the support - it makes such a huge difference.
— Ana-Maria Norbury, Royal Parks Half Runner

Selicia with her daughter Chimoga: she was supported to have a safe birth thanks to her community health group

How your run helps women

Every 2 minutes a woman dies in pregnancy, childbirth or shortly after birth. The problems are preventable or treatable; diseases such as malaria, or complications in labour such as haemorrhage

Women and Children First empowers the world’s most rural, remote communities to survive and thrive.

Our community health groups bring people together, effectively enabling communities to take action to address their health problems and find the answers.

They come up with life-saving, life-changing ideas: bicycle ambulances, sourcing and distributing mosquito nets, and cleaning water sources.

Community health groups work. They have been shown to almost halve maternal mortality, reduce neonatal mortality by a third and increase uptake in contraception by a quarter.

By raising £400 in sponsorship, you can help 80 more women like Selicia to attend their local health group for a year.

The atmosphere was electric, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Women and Children First’s support was invaluable throughout and I really appreciated it!
